 missing font and img

Hm, the png looks very good.
But I cannot check the template itself since I do not have all fonts you have used. Also the image is missing.

Actually the photo is not part of the template, you are intended to put your own photography in. You may also have to modify the fonts, they are probably fonts from Ubuntu.

If you have not already done:

First save your template as template (not just save as) and then from save window, select "Include fonts" and then send that template file here.

Then everyone can have those fonts ;-)
And you can use Free/Creativecommons fonts too and others dont need to select good fonts.

Fonts are one hard thing to select when it comes to good publishing...

I've seen that but I have no idea what fonts I can package or how to document them for CC. I just let people play with things and set them up as they like.

I think it is safe to add all fonts what you have installed on default distribution, unless there is installed a MS core font package (what can be replaced by liberation font's from red hat) or any non-free what is installed by hand.

There is many freefonts sites what allows using fonts by anyway free, some are with CC and few are with license that ask to informa where have those fonts be used, those cannot be added. But all other free fonts could be added. It's just littlebit more work to add information about who has made them, so you are correct in that case.

The zip worked, the icon even shows up as a scribus file, but when scribus trys to open it, it ends up saying it is "not an acceptable format"

Any ideas that will help me load it?

Well as of right now the Linux and Windows version of Scribus have some incompatibility issues with each other.

I'm not quite sure why but it seems like documents made with the Linux version for some reason does not work in Windows. I'm not sure if it only affects the new SVN builds or if the problem is older than that.

This template is in 1.3.4 format, you will need 1.3.4 (don't use) or 1.3.5 to open.

1.3.5 is getting pretty good

why not make all your templates in the stable version then people will not have trouble with them. I don't mean to knock you as I think you are doing a great job but, it's a bit daft to make templates for general consumption with an experimental build of a programme.

viewing the text in the templates

I am having trouble viewing the text in the templates. It is visible in story editor but not in the resulting pdf or on the page layout.

I resolved the 'not in acceptable format' error on opening by removing the xml line from the first line of the file.

Ok, I found you have to clear the text from text boxes before your own text will display in many templates.
